TEANECK, N.J. - The Knights hosted conference rival Wagner in an early season battle. The two teams went back and forth all day with Wagner pulling out with a 13-11 win.
The teams combined for 24 runs and 34 hits in the game with every pitcher allowing at least one run except for Ryan Bilka who closed our the game for the Seahawks. Wagner took a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning before Griffin Selby drove in the 'Hawks fifth run of the day. FDU began to cut into the lead in the 3rd inning when
George Rosales homered and
Nicholas Mazzotta singled home
Brian Sanders to make the score 5-2.
The Knights drilled two home runs in the 5th and two in the 9th to tie the game and force the game into extra innings. Extra innings was just as eventful as the first nine when Wagner knocked home four runs to take an 11-7 lead heading into the bottom of the 10th. Right when one would think the Knights ran out of gas they bounced back one more time.
Tom Ruscitti hit a solo home run to center field before
Luke Cantwell blasted his third homer of the game with a three run shot to center to tie the game at 11.
Despite the Knights best efforts they relinqushed the lead in the top of the 11th inning that they could not come back from. They evenutally dropped the game 13-11 in the 11 innings.
FDU and Wagner will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
