TEANECK, N.J. – The FDU Knights hosted the LIU Sharks for the third game of a three-game set on Sunday at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex. The Sharks avoided the three-game sweep with an 8-5 win over the Knights.
Freshman
Jeremy Cheeseman got the ball for the Knights today but he got attacked by the Sharks early. Jake Mastillo and Jack Power provided power to the lineup for the Sharks today, blasting two home runs in the first inning to give LIU an early 4-0 lead. The freshman finished with a tough line of only one inning and four earned runs.
The FDU bullpen got solid pitching behind Cheeseman with Nicholas, Feretic,
Grant Goodlad,
Shane Sax, and
Evan Stewart pitching eight combined innings and allowing four runs with only two of them being earned. Feretic provided the Knights with three one-run innings and three strikeouts, while
Evan Stewart went two scoreless to close out the games.
The Burgundy and Blue offense did not come alive until the 7
th inning when they were already in a 7-0 hole. They began to crawl out of the deficit in the 7
th when the Sharks bullpen struggled to throw strikes and the Knights put up a five spot in the inning. The big blast came from
George Rosales who blasted a two-run homer.
Despite their best efforts the Knights could not complete the comeback and they dropped the third game against the Sharks.
