HACKENSACK, N.J.- FDU was on the losing end of a four-set match against Sacred Heart on Saturday night. The loss dropped the Knights record to 4-7 and 1-4 in the NEC.

The Knights were once again led by sophomore
Jack Lydon. He totaled 17 kills on 34 attacks. Lydon finished the night with 17.5 points.
Jamal Ellis Carballo stretched his double-digit kill streak to three with 10 kills. On the defensive side,
Rui Fernandes kept multiple points alive with 13 digs. The setter put 47 assists on the board, which is a career high.

The teams played a tight first set which saw the scored tied at 18. With a 1-0 lead hanging in the balance, Sacred Heart scored seven of the final nine points of the set to win it 25-20.

Sacred Heart used that momentum to jump all over the Knights in the second set. FDU was forced into a timeout before the scheduled media, as they trailed 11-5. The timeout did not throw the Pioneers out of any rhythm though. They were able to hold off FDU and win the set 25-15.

Needing a win to extend the match, FDU found some much needed life. A 6-1 run wiped away an early deficit and gave them a 13-9 lead. The Knights never looked back and took the set, 25-16.

The fourth set would prove to be the tightest and last frame of the match. Sacred Heart scratched ahead when the set hit the media timeout as they lead 15-12. However, 5-1 run by FDU gave them a one-point advantage. Shortly after, Sacred Heart retook the lead. The Knights were able to fight off one match point with a
Jack Lydon kill, but a
Rui Fernandes service error ended the set and match. The Pioneers took the fourth 25-23.

The Knights now face a 9-match road trip that kicks off next Friday, March 3
rd, at 7pm vs Princeton.
