Knights Falter in the Middle Innings vs. Queens (N.C.)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Knights took on the Royals in game two of their three-game set on Saturday; FDU dropped the game 12-7.
 
How it happened
 
Innings 1-3
  • FDU jumped out to an early lead when Tom Ruscitti and Hunter D'Amato drove in a combined three runs in the first inning (3-0)
  • Rich Racobaldo started for the Knights and did not surrender a run in the first three innings
Innings 4-6
  • Racobaldo gave up a run on a fielder's choice in the 5th inning and that ended his night with an outstanding five innings and only one run given up. (3-1)
  • The Knights bullpen gave up a triple and a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning (3-3)
Innings 7-9
  • The seventh and eighth inning did not treat FDU pitchers nicely as they allowed six runs on two doubles, a single, and a home run (3-9)
  • The Knights knocked in two runs in the ninth behind his from D'Amato and TJ Werner; but the effort was too little too late (7-12)

  • Racobaldo pitched five; one-run innings and stuck out four batters
  • Ruscitti, D'Amato, and Shane Hewlette all picked up two hits in the contest
  • D'Amato drove in four of the seven runs; with Werner and Ruscitti combining for the other three

  • The Knights will wrap up their three-game set versus the Queens Royals on Sunday at 1 p.m.
