LEXINGTON, S.C. - In an exciting season-opening game between the FDU Knights (1-0) and the Butler Bulldogs (0-1), FDU emerged victorious with a final score of 9 to 8. The game saw both teams putting up a back and forth battle, but FDU's Brendan Medoro and Shane Sax managed to hold off Butler's offense in the final innings.
Brendan Medoro was the star of the show for FDU, pitching six innings in relief and giving up only two runs despite conceding nine hits. His performance earned him the first win of the season. Shane Sax also played a key role in securing the win for FDU, pitching two one-run innings and picking up his first save of the season.
FDU's offense was also firing on all cylinders, with Tommy Verga leading the way with two doubles and four runs batted in. Joan Sosa also had an outstanding performance, hitting a home run while walking three times and driving in three runs.
- The Knights will play a double header tomorrow afternoon versus the Butler Bulldogs. Game one will take place at 12 p.m. and game two will follow up at 3:30 p.m. or 30 minutes following the first contest.
