Men's Basketball to Visit Queens, Start Six-Game Road Trip

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - FDU men's basketball looks to continue the hot streak Wednesday when the 4-1 Knights travel to Queens (N.C.) for the second-ever meeting with the Royals (2-3, 0-0 ASUN). Tip-off is set for Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+ from Curry Arena in the Queen City. Wednesday's tilt begins a six-game road trip for the Knights as FDU will not hit their home hardwood until December 11.

About FDU

The Knights head to the Tar Heel state on a two-game win streak as the Burgundy and Blue etched wins against Saint Peter's and Penn State Schuylkill following a setback at Seton Hall. The Knights are off to their best start since the 2002-03 campaign and are paced by Preseason All-NEC selection Ansley Almonor (Spring Valley, N.Y./St. Joseph Regional) who earned an NEC Prime Performer nod after hitting his 104th three-pointer as a Knight. The reigning NEC Most Improved Player led FDU against the Nittany Lions on Nov. 18 with 17 points and eight rebounds in a near double-double.

All 13 Knights who appeared in the game scored with eight scoring in double-figures.

FDU saw contributions from the bench with 72 points from reserves, including high marks of 13 from freshman Terrence Brown (Minneapolis, Minn./Columbia Heights) and 13 points from Jameel Morris (Willingboro, N.J./Trenton Catholic). Brown contributed a team-high two blocks.

With the win, FDU has won six-straight on their home hardwood, dating back to the 2022-23 regular season finale.

About the Opponent

In their second year as a Division I member, Queens (N.C.) comes into Wednesday's meeting with FDU 2-3, suffering a trio of losses at Marshall, Southern Illinois and Drexel. The Royals etched their first two wins of the campaign against High Point and Fairfield, the latter on FDU's schedule in late December. Against Drexel in their most recent matchup, Queens' BJ McLaurin put together a solid afternoon on both ends of the court dropping 11 points while bringing down seven rebounds. The Royals suffered a nine-minute scoring drought at Drexel, going 1-for-16 from the field as Drexel stormed from behind.

Queens hold a 237-78 record inside Curry Arena, the site of Wednesday's game, since 2013-14/

About the Series

FDU and Queens have met just once before, an 82-73 victory for the Royals, on Dec. 22, 2022 at Stratis Arena.

What a Win Would Mean
  • With a win, FDU would start 5-1 for the first time since 1986-87
  • Even the all-time series with Queens (N.C.) at one game a piece
Headlines
  • Head coach Jack Castleberry spent six weeks on-staff at Queens as an assistant before joining FDU
  • FDU's hot hands have sank the eighth-most three-pointers in the nation (11.6 per game)
  • The Knights' high-flying offense have produced an average of 89.8 points a night, the most in the Northeast Conference and 26th best in Division I
What's Next

FDU heads to Moon Township, Pa. just outside of Pittsburgh for the Urban-Bennett Memorial Classic, hosted by Robert Morris, on November 25 and 26. FDU will face the Colonials and Jacksonville during the two-day multiple-team event (MTE). Both games will air live on ESPN+.
