NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – The Knights (9-4, 1-0) travel to North Andover, Mass. To face off against the Merrimack Warriors (1-11, 0-2). The Warriors are off to a tough start to begin the season and the hot Knights look to take advantage with their NEC league-leading defense. The contest will take place on Sunday, January 8 at Hammel Court. Fans can watch the game on NEC Front Row at 3 p.m.
The Knights dominated the Sharks in an 88-51 victory. The Burgundy and Blue's gameplay was to play stifling defense, which they executed. FDU forced 19 turnovers and scored 22 points off those turnovers. The Knights defense held LIU to 32% shooting from the field and outrebounded the Sharks by 15 rebounds. The offense for the Knights had an outstanding night as they shot 49.3% from the field and 33.3 from three. FDU had four players score 10+ points, led by junior
Chloe Wilson who scored 21 points.
- Wilson is leading the Knights with 15.5 points per game and 6.8 rebounds a contest.
- Senior, Sierra DeAngelo is pitching in 11.2 points a night and 4.9 rebounds.
- Dahomée Forgues scored 20 points last game in 21 minutes of action on 7-of-12 shooting.
- Merrimack has so far on the season with a 1-11 record so far. Their lone win has come at Hammel Court.
- The Warriors scoring outlook will mostly come from two seniors in the lineup.
- Forward Marissa Hamilton is a player to watch for the Warriors. She is scoring 17.1 points a night on 40% shooting from the field.
- Head coach Kelly Morrone is in her third season as head coach at Merrimack.
