HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Knights (14-5, 6-1) will take on Merrimack (5-13, 3-4) this Saturday at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center at 1 p.m. Before Saturday's matchup, the Knights will be inviting back alumni to attend the game for Alumni Day. This game will be the second time the Knights and Warriors face off this season. FDU took the first matchup with a 62-52 win.
The Knights traveled to Loretto, Pa. on Thursday to take on the St. Francis U Red Flash (Pa.). The game started out as a back-and-forth matchup with the Knights only holding on to a single-digit lead at halftime. The second half was a different story with the Knights outscoring the Red Flash 36-18 in the second half. FDU was led all night by
Dahomée Forgues and
Chloe Wilson; Forgues dropped 20 points and five assists in 30 minutes of play, while Wilson pitched in 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting in only 19 minutes of action. A game after turning the ball over 25 times the Knights only gave the ball away 12 times and forced SFU into 21 turnovers, scoring 20 points off those takeaways.
- Wilson leads the Knights with 15.4 points a night and 6.1 rebounds. She has picked up three double-doubles on the season
- Senior DeAngelo has had a solid season scoring 11.8 points a night on a team-leading 46.2% shooting from the field
- Forgues has entered double-digit point scoring on the season averaging 10.1 points a contest and being a top-three Knight in assists
- Merrimack is 5-13 on the season with three wins coming in conference play, however, they are only 1-7 away from Hammel Court
- The Warriors scoring outlook will mostly come from two seniors in the lineup.
- Forward Marissa Hamilton is a player to watch for the Warriors. She is scoring 16.3 points a night on 38.8% shooting from the field.
- Head coach Kelly Morrone is in her third season as head coach at Merrimack.
