HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Knights (10-4, 2-0) are back home at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center for the first time in over a month since they dropped a matchup against Big East powerhouse, Georgetown. FDU will battle NEC rival CCSU (4-10, 1-2) on the banks of the Hackensack Saturday, January 14 for the first of two scheduled matchups this season. Fans can watch the Knights and Blue Devils battle on NEC Front Row at 1 p.m.
FDU traveled to North Andover, Mass. And took down Merrimack 62-52. The Knights held a good lead for most of the game and never let the lead drop below eight points in the second half. The dominant performance was backed by their great defense which has been a staple for head coach
Angelika Szumilo's squad this season. Junior,
Chloe Wilson led all scorers with 20 points, which earned her an NEC Prime Performer weekly honor. The freshman from Bayonne, N.J.,
Eniya Scott, pitched in nine points in 16 minutes of play off the bench.
- Wilson is leading the Knights with 15.9 points per game and three NEC Player of the Week honors.
- Sierra DeAngelo knocked down four buckets for 10 points and seven rebounds last time out against the Warriors.
- Scott has been playing well on the offensive end, averaging 9.5 points per game in only 13.5 minutes per game over the last two contests.
- The Blue Devils are 4-10 to begin the year with a 1-2 record in NEC play so far.
- CCSU's scoring outlook will mainly come from their loaded back court.
- Guard Dejah Jenkins is a player to watch for the Blue Devils. She leads all CCSU scorers with 11.6 points a night.
- Head coach Kerrri Reaves is in her third season as head coach at CCSU.
