ANNAPOLIS, Md. - FDU men's soccer (2-0-1) was boosted by junior transfer
Jayd Hamdaoua's first goal in the Burgundy and Blue Friday as the Knights emerged victorious over Navy 1-0 Friday evening at the Glenn Warner Soccer Complex at the U.S. Naval Academy.

1st Half
- Senior midfielder Jordan Alonge fired off the first shot of the game for either side in the 12' after the only previous recorded action was a corner kick in the 2' for the Midshipmen.
- Alonge's blast was followed by an attempt by fifth-year forward Joshua Ferreira, eager to open the tally.
- Controlling the offensive ball, Seth Roland's Knights tallied nine shots to Navy's one with four coming on-target for the Burgundy and Blue.
- After Ferreira's third attempt of the evening, Hamdaoua was able to break through with help from the Georgetown, Guyana native and junior forward Tony Gomez to score what was the game-winning goal in the 45' with just 44 seconds to go until the halftime whistle. In each of FDU's three scores this season, Ferreira found himself in prime position, sitting with two assists on the season in three games.
2nd Half
- After making only two substitutions in the first half, bringing on graduate student D'Shon DeGannes and Hamdaoua, Roland's Knights continued to get chances in the attacking third in the final 45.
- Sitting with a 1-0 lead coming out of the break, FDU went off for six shots in the final period, eventually out-shooting the home side 15-10 with seven FDU shots on-target to Navy's three.
- Senior goalkeeper Spencer King was rock-solid in net for the Knights recording all three of his saves in the second off, mostly off rockets down the center of the goal.

"Navy is an outstanding possession team and they gave us a difficult time because they move the ball so well," said Roland. "We couldn't find our rhythm until about the 30' mark and then we attacked dangerously the rest of the half and were rewarded with the goal by Jayd. He and D'Shon gave us a big lift when they entered the game. Second half we focused on staying balanced defensively and trying to get another goal on one of our counters. Tony hit the crossbar twice - once in each half - but we couldn't find a second goal. But we competed hard, stayed focused and got the win."

Hamdaoua and the Knights continue their trip in Maryland with the final match of the two-contest swing on Sunday, September 4 against UMBC live on AmericaEast.TV. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be the first meeting between the Retreviers and the Knights since 2011 which came in Baltimore.
