PISCATAWAY, Nj- FDU women's volleyball (4-10) played hard on the second day of the Rutgers Tournament Saturday inside Jersey Mike's Arena but didn't have enough against FIU losing 3-0.
- FDU was a big blocking team this morning with 10, six block assists from Tessa Fisk, five from Tatijana Fucka, and four from Kylie Nott.
- Nott was strong at the net with 11 kills for the Knights.
- FDU had three service aces in the third set from Sophia Spiridonakos, Fisk, and Nott.
- Fucka made the all-tournament team with her 12 kills, and eight block assists throughout the weekend.
Set 1
- The first set was the most competitive of the three and saw multiple lead changes late.
- FIU jumped out to a 12-7 lead with multiple aces. However the Knights rebounded and would eventually tie the set at 19-apiece.
- FDU then took the lead with kills from Fucka and Sofia Rampazzo 22-20. FIU rallied back with a 5-1 run to take the set 25-23.
Set 2
- FDU competed with FIU point for point in until 17-17 when FIU had 2 blocks and pulled ahead finishing the set 18-25.
- The Burgundy and Blue finished with a better hitting percentage than the Golden Panthers, but couldn't recover from several late attack errors.
Set 3
- FDU played closely with FIU until 13-13 when the FIU pulled ahead going on little runs to win 25-20 and the match in three.
FDU hosts Manhattan on Tuesday at their first home match of the season in the Rothman Center at 7 p.m. The match will streamed live on NEC Front Row and the NEC On The Run app.
