CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Freshman Jack Lydon notched a season-high performance on Saturday morning as the Knights concluded their inaugural season at the IVA Tournament in Charlotte. With 25.5 points, Lydon led the Knights as they fell in a five-set battle against Tusculum.
Lydon secured his fourth career double-double as he tallied 24 kills and 12 digs, logging nine kills in the first set alone to lead both teams.Â
With his first career double-double, Jose Angarita anchored the Knights with 35 assists and ten digs. The freshman added a season-high six points towards FDU's offensive battle, filling the stat line with two kills, three aces and a block.
Rui Fernandes, Lorenzo Bonomo and Santiago La Jara played big contributions on both sides of the ball as they posted a combined 29.5 points and 31 digs.

As the Knights established an 11-5 lead in the first set, the Pioneers resurged with a series of attacks to knot the score at 20. The teams began to trade points until Lydon drained a final four kills to secure the set for FDU, 27-25.Â

With set two knotted at five, Tusculum launched a 9-1 run to take control. Fernandes added four kills to shrink the gap, but it would not be enough as the Knights dropped the set 25-19.

FDU established momentum early in the third set as La Jara posted a pair of solo blocks for an early lead. Angarita extended the lead to seven with back-to-back points as the Knights took the set 25-19.

The Pioneers took an early lead in the fourth set which FDU would answer with a series of kills to tie the game at 13. As the teams began to swap points, a pair of blocks gave the Pioneers the edge they needed to take the set 25-23.

Tusculum commanded the final set from early on. La Jara and Lydon combined for seven points as the Knights fell 15-9.
