Women’s Tennis Falls 4-1 in NEC Finals to Bryant

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team's season came to an end with a 4-1 loss to Bryant on Saturday afternoon from the Mercer County Tennis Center. Sophomore Gauri Bhagia recorded the point in the match for the Knights.  

The competition began with a doubles competition. Juniors Amina Lasheen and Shreya Gulia dropped their match to Bryant's Camila Baeza and M. Gomez Estrada 4-6. In spot No. 3, Senior Aleksandra Vorozheikina and graduate student Marta Bettinelli fell short to Caitlyn Munson and Olivia Rondini, 6-7 (5). The No. 1 team of junior Alena Kubanova and freshman Namie Isago finished doubles play with an unfinished match, 6-6.   

Lasheen battled in a three-set match at the No. 2 spot to start singles play but fell, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6. Singh dropped her match at No. 5, 6-4, 5-7, 3-6. Gauri Bhagia grabbed the only win for the Knights in a three-set contest over Rondini at No. 6, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Kubanova fell to Boru, 7-6 (5), 3-6, 5-7, resulting in an overall win for the Bulldogs. Vorozheikina, in the No. 2 spot, faced the Bulldogs' Hickey and Isago at No. 4 faced Munson, with both matches ending unfinished.
