After dropping the opening game of conference play to Central Connection on March 18, the Knights rallied back to finish-off the Blue Devils in the nightcap and again on March 20. FDU was set to travel to Lafayette on Wednesday, however the series was postponed due to inclement weather in Easton, Pa. Despite this being Merrimack's third academic year as a member of the 10-team Northeast Conference, this weekend's series marks the first-ever meeting between the two east coast institutions in softball.

Chris Foye's side will turn to senior right-handed pitcher Alayna Savaglio to get the Burgundy and Blue off to a clean start from the circle while the rookies' hot bats continue to produce with freshmen Andreya Flores' team-leading batting average of .397 and three-time NEC Rookie of the Week Jess DeWitt's mark of .391. DeWitt smashed two two-run home runs in the series at CCSU and leads FDU in RBIs (13 and hits with 25 coming off the bat of the San Diego, Calif. native.

"After winning our first NEC series we're looking forward to traveling to Merrimack to play them for the first time in our program's history," remarked Foye. "We are starting to get players back from injuries and their return will help us in our goal to get better."

Following the contests at Martone-Mejail Field against the Warriors, FDU returns to the banks of the Hackensack for an eight-game homestand beginning on Thursday, March 31, against Saint Peter's in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is in the books for a 2 p.m. first pitch. On Saturday, April 2, the Burgundy and Blue welcome Sacred Heart to FDU Softball Field in the Knights' first home conference series of the season for a three-game set with all eight games of the stretch airing live on NEC Front Row.
