Women's Basketball Closes Season at Seton Hall in WNIT First Round

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Following a historic regular season run, the Knights made their first ever WNIT appearance on Thursday against Garden State opponent Seton Hall. FDU put up a fight to lead at halftime, but a final 16-point run by the Pirates stunned the Knights, as they fell 67-45.

Aniya Bell led the Knights with 17 points, shooting three-for-three from the distance in the first quarter alone. Chloe Wilson followed with 11 points towards the Knights' cause, as the two combined for 14 rebounds and four steals.

The Knights recorded 15 rebounds and 21 points in the first quarter, holding the Pirates to just five boards. Madison Stanley led the Knights on this front with a team-high 11 grabs.
 

How it Happened

  • Wilson opened scoring for the Knights to establish an early 4-0 advantage. As the teams began to swap control, Bell forced a gap off an interception converted for three. Bell added another pair of triples to end the first period with a 21-13 lead. 

  • With 7:52 remaining in the half, Seton Hall launched on an 11-2 run to manage a one-point lead midway through the quarter. The Knights responded with a nine-point run of their own with triples by Devyn Scott and Dahomée Forgues. With a layup by Miranda Elebring at the buzzer, FDU entered halftime with a 34-31 edge.

  • The teams traded baskets out of the half until a triple by Seton Hall's Lauren Park-Lane opened up a gap with 5:14 remaining. The Pirates maintained the advantage, draining a long-range basket at the buzzer to extend the lead, 51-45.

  • The Pirates recorded 16 points in the final quarter as the Knights went scoreless, falling 67-45.
