FLUSHING, N.Y. -The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis team (1-3, 0-0 NEC) battled, but dropped its match at the USTA National Tennis Center as the Knights fell 4-0 to St. John's (4-2, 0-0 Big East) on Friday morning.  

The match began with doubles play. At the No. 2 spot, senior Aleksandra Vorozheikina and sophomore Gauri Bhagia lost 6-0 to St, John's Mouna Bouzgarrou and Lalita Devarakonda. St. John's secured the win in the No. 1 spot as graduate student Marta Bettinelli and junior Amina Lasheen dropped their match to Jayden Nielsan and Yesica De Lucas, 6-1. Freshman Namie Isago and junior Shreya Gulia's match in the No. 3 spot went unfinished. 

In singles action, senior Smriti Singh at No. 5 lost her matchup against Willa Bay Breunich 6-0, 6-1, and Bhagia dropped her match to Devarakonda 6-1, 6-0. To secure the win, St. John's Bouzgarrou defeated Gulia at No. 1 6-1, 0-6. 

Up next, the Knights will stay on the road to take on Temple this Tuesday, February 22 at 11:30 a.m. in Philadelphia, PA.
