GREENSBORO, N.C. - Break in your glove, chalk those lines and hang up your bunting as it's Opening Day for Fairleigh Dickinson softball! The FDU Knights will kick-off their 2022 campaign with a trip to North Carolina, taking part in five games over three days.

FDU gets the season underway with a doubleheader on Friday, February 18, beginning at 11 a.m. against the host Aggies, the first two of three games against the side this weekend. On Saturday (2/19) the Burgundy and Blue will face George Mason at 9:30 a.m., followed by another game against the Aggies 2:30 p.m. Chris Foye's Knights will close-out the weekend with a final matchup against the Patriots on February 20 with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. All five games will be played at the Aggie Softball Conference in Greensboro, N.C. "I can't wait for this team to take the field starting this weekend," said Foye. "They are the most selfless, committed and talented group I have had in my tenure here at FDU and I am excited to watch them perform this Spring. I have a feeling this will be a season to remember. Our 2022 schedule is one of the toughest non-conference schedules we have played in recent memory. I felt that this group was ready for the challenge and it will only make us better when we start our conference games in mid-March."

Returning a crucial portion of the 2021 squad, FDU will look to build on the team's 11-21 finish last season beginning with pitching in returning ace Alayna Savaglio who enters her senior campaign on Friday.

The Knights return to North Carolina next week for the Pirate Invitational, hosted by East Carolina, beginning on Friday, February 25, with a 12:30 p.m. matchup against Gardner-Webb.
