Anderson, Knights head to Columbia for fourth all-time meeting Friday on SNY

NEW YORK - FDU men's basketball picked up an important victory Saturday when the Burgundy and Blue toppled Saint Joseph's 97-80 to snap a three-game skid. Back in their winning ways, the Knights (4-6, 0-0 NEC) head to Columbia (4-8, 0-0 Ivy) in the Big Apple to face the Lions for just the fourth time ever on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. live on SNY and ESPN+.

Reigning NEC Player of the Week Grant Singleton is the player to watch in navy blue to end the workweek with the graduate student transfer the difference in the victory over the Hawks, pouring in 24 points (tied with Demetre Roberts) as the duo got things rolling in the front court. FDU's defensive system shined with Tobin Anderson's team forcing 17 turnovers, collecting nine steals including six in the first half. The Knights got the job done on the glass en route to the 17-point victory with 22 defensive boards - five of which were byproduct of junior transfer Sean Moore who led the pack. Each of the nine Knights in the game logged at least one defensive rebounds for a combined total of 30 (eight offensive, 22 defensive).

Columbia hits their home court for their third-straight home game, sixth of the season, while FDU is on the road for their eighth-consecutive contest before returning home on Sunday, Dec. 11 to face NJIT at 2 p.m. on NEC Front Row. The Lions, led by sixth-year head coach Jim Engles, notched a big-time win over New Hampshire who on Tuesday toppled ACC member Boston College by three. With eight first or second-year players, Columbia, picked last in the eight-team Ivy League, is led in scoring by Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa who posted a season-best 28 points against NEC rival Sacred Heart on November 28. With a career average of 12.6 points per game, Rubio De La Rosa has scored in double-figures eight times with two 20-plus-point games in 2022-23. His one double-double came on Nov. 26 at BIG EAST team Providence as he contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds.
