Gameday Preview: Men's Basketball takes-on Richmond for first time

RICHMOND, Va. - Returning to the Mother of States for the second time this year, FDU will play their fourth game of the 2022-23 campaign in Virginia on Tuesday when the Knights (6-6, 0-0 NEC) get set to battle Richmond (4-5, 0-0 A-10) at 7 p.m. on the hardwood inside the Robins Center live on MASN and ESPN+.

Having won each of their last three with two coming on the road, FDU looks to post-up strong against their third A10 opponent of the season having opened with Loyola Chicago in the season lid-lifter and defeating Saint Joseph's earlier this month. Tobin Anderson's Knights are 2-5 on the road in 2022-23 with the wins coming in the last two contests outside of the Rothman, the Hawks and Columbia.

FDU bested in-state rival NJIT for just the second time in program history, the first since the Highlanders became a Division I program, 73-71 with a Top 10 play by freshman Jo'el Emanuel to heat things up under the iconic ceiling of Stratis Arena. Demetre Roberts and Ansley Almonor got jumping as FDU cruised to their third victory on the Hackensack in three home games.

En route to securing head coach Tobin Anderson's 400th career victory (six at FDU), FDU turned up the heat in the second half before junior Sean Moore tipped-in a long missed jumper by Roberts, the NEC Co-Player of the Week, to win the game for FDU with 1.6 seconds to go, much to the dismay of the Highlanders' head coach. The heroics by Moore, who finished with eight points, pushed the Knights to 4-1 in their last five regular season games inside Stratis Arena - talk about home cooking.

After a nine-day layoff for fall semester finals, the Knights return to action on Thursday, December 22 at 7 p.m. against Queens (N.C.) live on NEC Front Row.

The 2022-23 men's basketball season is presented by Bogota Savings Bank.
