MILWAUKEE, WISC. - The FDU Knights women's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 NEC) opened their season on Monday afternoon, falling to Marquette (1-0, 0-0 BIG EAST), 75-47. The Knights came out the gates slowly watching the Golden Eagles take a quick 8-2 lead before the Burgundy and Blue stormed back with an 11-4 run; they ended the first quarter with a one-point lead. Marquette stormed back and took a commanding 39-26 lead into halftime. After the half, the Golden Eagles held onto their lead and it was too much for the Knights to overcome.

-  Sophomore Ella Fajardo led the Knights with 16 points, 14 of those coming in the second half.
- Abby Conklin followed closely behind her with 11 points of her own.
- Chloe Wilson added nine points and five rebounds.
FDU 17, Marquette 16
- Going into the first media timeout the Knights offense struggled to get going. They trailed the Golden Eagles 8-2. The only points coming from Chloe Wilson.
- An 11-4 run for the Burgundy and Blue gave the Knights a one-point lead with 2:38 to play in the first quarter.
- The Knights finished off the quarter with a one-point lead over Marquette.
- Abby Conklin led the team with eight points off the bench (3-3 FG).
FDU 26, Marquette 39
- A 10-0 Marquette run to start the quarter forced an early timeout from the Knights as they trailed by nine, 26-17.
- As the quarter wound down Elebring, Babore, Forgues and Selvaggi all entered the score sheet.
- The Golden Eagles outscored the Knights 23-9 in the second quarter.
- Conklin closed the first half with eight points, leading FDU.
FDU 38, Marquette 55
- Entering the media timeout in the third quarter the Golden Eagles were outscoring the Knights 10-0 in the quarter.
- Back-to-back threes from Conklin and Fajardo forced a Marquette timeout with 3:34 remaining in the quarter.
- The Knights ended the quarter on an 11-4 run to cut the deficit to 17 points.
- Fajardo led FDU with five points in the quarter, giving her seven on the night.
FDU 47, Marquette 75
- A timeout at the 3:05 mark saw the Knights trailing 69-47
- The steady Golden Eagles offense was too much for the Knights to overcome.
