Knights set to host Cornell in out-of-conference matchup

HACKENSACK, N.J. –The Knights women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, November 12 at 2 p.m at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. This will be the Knights first game back on the Hackensack this season. FDU (0-1, 0-0) will be taking on the Cornell Big Red (0-1, 0-0), both teams are coming off tough losses to begin their seasons. Additionally, fans who bring four (4) non-perishable canned food items to donate to the FDU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Canned Food Drive will receive a free ticket to the game.
 
Last Time Out

The Burgundy and Blue opened the season last Monday at Marquette where they took on the Golden Eagles. The Knights were down early but stormed back with a 17-16 first quarter lead, behind eight points from Abby Conklin off the bench (3-3 FG). Despite a strong effort from the Knights the Golden Eagles maintained their lead and won the game 75-47.
 
The Knights
  • Chloe Wilson who was named to the Preseason All-NEC team looks to have a bounce-back game after posting nine points and five rebounds in Monday's contest.
  • Guard, Ella Fajardo led the Knights in scoring with an impressive 16 points off the bench in their season opener.
  • Junior, Abby Conklin will look to improve off of her strong game-one performance where she netted 11 points, which included three three-pointers. 
Scouting Cornell
  • Cornell finished last season with a 9-16 record and a 4-10 mark in Ivy League play.
  • The Big Red dropped their season opener at Colgate to a score of 62-48.
  • Freshman forward Emily Pape is a player to watch for Cornell. She opened the season with a team-leading 13 points where she shot 6-15 from the field. She also pitched in seven rebounds in the game.
  • Head coach Dayna Smith is in her 20th season at the helm for the Big Red. The Pittsburgh native is the winningest coach in program history.
