LORETTO, PA- FDU women's volleyball (12-12, 6-2) was victorious in a sweep over Saint Francis U (6-15, 4-4) on the road at DeGol Arena. (25-21, 25-22, 25-19.)
Set 1
- SFU got an early five-point lead (14-9) before FDU went on a four-point run followed by a three-point run to tie the game at 15-15 and pull ahead to win the set 25-21
- Fisk and Ruggiero each had three kills on the set.
- FDU was dominant at the service line with three aces.
Set 2
- Set two was chaotic with nine lead changes and 12 ties.
- FDU gained control of set two at the 14th point when FDU earned two kills, an ace off the hands of Rampazzo, and a beautiful overpass kill to force a timeout (15-12.)
- SFU came out of the timeout to put pressure on and played a close set until 22-22 when the Red Flash gave away the final three points on hitting errors. (25-22)
- FDU had another three aces from Bushnell, Rampazzo, and Spiridonakos.
Set 3
- The Knights were tied at 14-14 when they went on a six-point run with Bushnell at the service line and forced an SFU timeout. The Burgendy and Blue came out of it with another ace from Bushnell to maintain control of the set (20-14.)
- FDU kept that lead throughout and Giorgia Vaschetti finished it off with the kill that own set three 25-19.
"That was a full team victory. We scored when it mattered and our servers were dialed in." head coach David Nguyen said. "I'm proud of this team for taking care of business on the road."
"Each set we started down but as we progressed we picked up our energy and pulled though," said freshmen MacKenzy Ruggiero, who led the team in kills.
FDU travels to the Bay State next weekend for two matches against Merrimack Friday at 5 p.m. and Stonehill Saturday at 5 p.m. Watch all the action live on NEC Front Row.
