Freshman Hill Posts Second Career Double-Double as Knights fall to Mount St. Mary's Thursday

HACKENSACK, N.J. - Mount St. Mary's picked up their fourth-straight NEC victory Thursday as the Mountaineers topped the Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (1-15, 2-7 NEC) 67-56 Thursday at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center.

How it Happened
  • Reigning NEC Rookie of the Week Anquan Hill led all FDU scorers with 15 points. The Philadelphia, Pa. native posted his second double-double in as many games after the freshman logged 10 boards, including eight off the defensive glass.
  • FDU's defensive forced 10 turnovers, converting four for steals.
  • Although his night was cut short due to foul trouble, freshman Oscar Berry earned his seventh start of the season and posted four points, including the game-tying to get FDU on the scoreboard, and two rebounds in 12 minutes on the floor.
Inside the Box Score
  • Greg Herenda's side recorded 24 points in the paint and 14 points off turnovers. Staying with 14, it's also the number of bench points for the Burgundy and Blue in Thursday's game.
Coach Herenda's Thoughts

"We just came out and did not have any pop from the get-go offensively and give Mount St. Mary's credit for taking advantage of that. They have a number of players back with a great deal of experience and it showed tonight. We just need to continue to improve on a daily basis, it is really that plain and simple. We are doing it in practice and in segments of games but we need continue to fight and do it for 40 minutes and we will. Now we have two days to prepare for a young hungry team like ourselves in Central Connecticut. We need to bounce back and respond we so that we can get a win here at the Rothman."

What's Next

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Knights' matchup with Central Connecticut, orginially scheduled for Saturday, January 29, has been postponed to Sunday, January 30, with tip-off now scheduled for 1 p.m. live from Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center on NEC Front Row.
