TEANECK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (1-2-0) fell to Penn (1-0-0) 3-2 on Friday night in the fall 2021 home opener.
How it Happened
- Penn's Matt Leigh opened the scoring affair in the 4' to put the Quakers up 1-0.
- Leigh would strike again in the 23' on an assist from Jack Rosener
- Just before the halftime whistle, senior Noah Chia connected on a pass from Diego Arribas to cut the deficit to one making it a 2-1 tally in the 43'.
- In the 47', Arribas would strike with a score of his own to even the fixture at 2-2.
- A foul in the box sent Penn's RC Williams to the penalty marker and he buried the eventual game-winner in the 70'.
Inside the Box Score
- FDU out-shot Penn 8-3 in the second half of play.
- Vinícius Cadengue made his first appearance in-net for the Knights as he played the full 45 minutes of action in the second half.
- Arrbias' goal is his first since the 2019 season. He did not participate in the 2020-21 fall-to-spring campaign due to an injury.
- Facing six shots on goal, redshirt junior Spencer King and Cadengue combined to stop three shots on target from Penn.
Coach Roland's Thoughts
"I thought we showed great character coming back from two goals to pull even - and we were pushing aggressively to take the lead. We have the potential to be a pretty good team but need to stop gifting our opponents goals. It was exciting to see how we can play when we find our rhythm as we did after the first 25 minutes."
