Opong Scores, Knights Battle to Double Overtime Draw with Sacred Heart

TEANECK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (2-5-2, 0-0-1 NEC) went the distance with Sacred Heart (0-6-3, 0-0-1 NEC), finishing with a 1-1 draw after 110 minutes (2OT) of play in the first Northeast Conference contest of the season for either side.

How it Happened 

  • Knights sophomore Jeremy Opong would get the ball rolling with the first shot on target in the match towards the top right of the goal which was saved by the Sacred Heart keeper.
  • The Pioneers would be the first to get on the board with Robert Tullonge breaking the scoreless tally in the 43'.
  • Opong would answer back just over a minute later with a 45' goal off an assist from Diego Arribas to even the match at 1-1.

Inside the Box Score 

  • Eight Knights played the full 110 minutes of play.
  • Redhsirt Freshman Spencer King logged five saves in net on six shots faced.
  • As a team, the Burgundy and Blue out-shot SHU, putting up 11 shots, opposed to nine for the visitors. Sacred Heart would hold the edge on shots on target, 6-3.
