NEWARK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (0-1-0) fell to NJIT (1-0-0) 4-1 on Thursday night in the fall 2021 season opener.

How it Happened 

• The home side logged the first two goals of the evening with Jose Escandon opening the scoring in the 13'. Rene White would log his first of the match in the 35'.
• Knights senior Joshua Ferreira scored on a pass from junior Edoardo Calzola in the 52' to get the Burgundy and Blue on the board early in the second half.
• White notched a brace in the fixture following his second score of the game in the 60' on an assist from Calzola to make it 3-1 for the home Highlanders.
• In the 75', NJIT's Segio Pita scored his team's fourth goal

Inside the Box Score 

• Five Knights recorded one shot on goal (Jeremy Opong, Stefano Pesce, Tony Gomez, Mamadi Sangare, Joshua Ferreira, Jordan Alonge and Patrick O'Dwyer)
• 20 Knights participated in the contest, including three newcomers
• Both teams' respective goalkeepers (sophomore Blake Hylton for FDU, Samuel Reisgys for NJIT) finished the game with a total of four saves each
• NJIT took the first scoring attempts with their both of their first shots of the match coming in the 9'
