Ferreira Scores, Knights Come Up Short in Season Opener

NEWARK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (0-1-0) fell to NJIT (1-0-0) 4-1 on Thursday night in the fall 2021 season opener.

How it Happened 

  • The home side logged the first two goals of the evening with Jose Escandon opening the scoring in the 13'. Rene White would log his first of the match in the 35'.
  • Knights senior Joshua Ferreira scored on a pass from junior Edoardo Calzola in the 52' to get the Burgundy and Blue on the board early in the second half.
  • White notched a brace in the fixture following his second score of the game in the 60' on an assist from Calzola to make it 3-1 for the home Highlanders.
  • In the 75', NJIT's Segio Pita scored his team's fourth goal
