France Tapped for USA National Team Development Program Coaching Staff

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Fairleigh Dickinson men's volleyball head coach Karl France has been selected to join the coaching staff of the 2021 USA Men's Volleyball National Team Training Development Program, as announced by USA Volleyball.

Led by Princeton University Assistant Coach Pat Shawaryn, this year's program will take place at the USA Volleyball National Training Center in Anaheim, Calif. from July 18 through July 23. Over the course of the event, France will work with the top U-16/17 players in the country as they work to make their eventual Olympic dreams a reality.

According to USAVolleyball.org, the goal of the National Team Training Development Program is to, "...increase the opportunities for athletes to be seen and evaluated and to develop within the USAV National Team system. This is fluid system with an athlete-centered focus that emphasizes the health, well-being and overall development of each individual player. Players will have increased opportunities to play with and against the best athletes from across the country and to learn from some of the best minds in the game."

Following the announcement, France remarked, "This program is starting point of the pipeline for our [USA] national teams. I have never coached an Olympian in my past years with the program but plenty of All-Americans. This is a great honor to be selected to join this incredible staff."

Selected by invitation only, the participating players are the 'best-of-the-best' and scouted year-round for participation by scouts around the nation who make stops at "qualifiers, bid events and high school/club tournaments across the United States" in search of athletes for this program.

"This is a great opportunity for Karl and we couldn't be happier he will be able to help the [USA] development team," said Knights Senior Associate Athletic Director Jason Young, who also serves as the men's volleyball sport administrator. "As Karl begins his first season [at FDU] this will only further energize our program and bring exposure to the great sport of men's volleyball 'on the Hackensack'."
