HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team is set to play its final two games of the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader against Hofstra at the FDU Softball Field. Prior to game one, we will be honoring our three seniors and three graduate students for Senior Day.

Rylie Schmeh, Abby England, Logan Kolehmainen, Summer Mendoza, Madison Emerson, and Erica Johnson will be honored before the game.

NEC Season Format and Preseason Poll
There will be a 32-game conference schedule that will be played in a round-robin (four-game series) format over eight weeks from March 20-May 9. The NEC will only have four teams qualify for a double-elimination NEC Championship that will take place from May 13-15. FDU was predicted to finish seventh in the NEC Preseason Poll.

Scouting the Pride
Hofstra is led offensively by Kristin Hallam, who owns a team-leading .433 batting average, has 42 hits, 10 RBI's, 27 stolen bases, and has 48 total bases over 28 games. Jayee Ruberti leads the Pride in RBI's with 34, eight doubles, and 58 total bases, while also hitting three homers. Meghan Giordano leads the team in homers with four, has 23 RBI's, and has drawn 23 walks. On the mound, Madison Burns leads the team with a 3.40 ERA, nine complete games, 31 strikeouts.

Scouting the Knights
FDU took three of four games in its most recent series against Bryant last weekend. In game one's win over Bryant, the Knights scored a program-record 15 runs. After falling in game two, FDU took games three and four. Junior Alayna Savaglio was named NEC Pitcher of the Week on May 4 after posting a 3-1 record with two wins against Bryant and one against Mount St. Mary's. On the season, Savaglio ranks 28th in the nation with in K/7 with a 9.6 rate, leads the team with nine complete games, 127 strikeouts, seven wins, and a 2.71 ERA over 93.0 innings pitched. Graduate student Madison Emerson leads the Knights with a .402 batting average, 39 hits, six homers, 26 RBI's, 67 total bases, and 10 doubles. Sophomore Cassidy Triska ranks second on the team with a .303 batting average, 27 hits, 16 RBI's, four homers, and 45 total bases.

Coach Foye's Thoughts
"Finally, another two wins on the day to finish the sweep. Alayna had a great diving catch off a bunt to get a double play and end the inning to save a run. Schmeh continued her hot hitting today and drove in some crucial runs. Courtney had a big three-run HR to extend our lead to five in the second game along with some great sacrifice bunts to move runners into scoring position."

"Megan played great defense all weekend and came through with some hits and RBI's in big spots today. Abbey was seeing the ball well today and had some hard hits. Sweeping today's games and winning three out of four still gives us hope for the playoffs, now we just have to sit back, wait and see how some other teams do with the rest of their schedule."
