Men's Tennis Opens NEC Play with 6-1 Win Over Sacred Heart

TRUMBULL, Conn. – Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (1-1, 1-0 NEC) opened NEC action of Monday morning with a 6-1 victory over Sacred Heart (0-4, 0-1 NEC) at the Tennis Club of Trumbull. The Knights claimed the doubles point by winning two of three matches and won five of the six singles matches.

How it Happened
  • After SHU won number three doubles, FDU's number one doubles team of junior Mehdi Dhouib and freshman Younes Adnane defeated Sacred Heart's number one doubles team of Lefteri Apostolou and Cameron Goldstein and the doubles win moves Dhouib and Adnane to 2-0 together.
  • In number two doubles, senior Andris Gudins and Moric Budinszky then recorded a 6-4 win over Kevin Chao and Ayman Khan.
  • Adnane recorded the Knights first singles win of the year by a 6-2, 6-0 margin over Matthew Nagel and senior Maciej Autuch also registered a two set 6-2, 6-2 win in number five singles.
  • Dhouib won a thrilling 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 number one singles match against William Wibmer.
  • Gudins (3-6, 6-0, 6-4) and junior Youssef Sader (7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-4) also registered three set wins in number two and three singles respectively.
  • Dhouib, Gudins, and Adnane all registered both a singles and doubles victory.
Next Up
The Knights will play again on Thursday, March 11 at 11 a.m. when they travel to Temple.
