BRONX, N.Y. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (0-1-0) fell at Fordham (1-0-0) on Saturday in the 2021 season opener, 2-0. The two sides battled to a halftime draw before the Rams' Sameer Fathazada opened the scoring in the 49' on a penalty kick. The home team followed it up with an 80' goal by Florian Deletioglu. For the Knights, Ideal Shefqeti and Joshua Ferreira had one shot on goal a piece.

Knights head coach Seth Roland said following the match, "It was awesome being back out there playing again, the boys and I absolutely loved it!

Roland continued, "I thought our competitive mentality was very good. I really liked our focus and mental toughness. We played well against a solid Fordham team that had two scrimmages in preparation for today's match. We have a lot to work on, but I'm pleased with the performance we put in, especially since it's only after just a handful of full-team training sessions. My coaching staff and I can't wait to continue our development on Monday."

The Burgundy and Blue return to action on Friday, February 19, for a non-conference fixture on the road against Hofstra.
