SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team (0-2-0, 0-0-0 NEC) fell to Seton Hall on Wednesday by a 2-0 tally.
The Knights were unable to click on offense, however, the defense shored up in the second half after allowing two goals in the first half. FDU began the night with a close-range save by sophomore
Isac Hjerten on a shot from Seton Hall's Raz Amir. The first shot attempt by the Knights came several minutes later with junior
Joshua Ferreira shooting wide. In the 16', freshman
Sean Arus logged the only shot on goal for the Burgundy and Blue.
In goal, Hjerten and sophomore
Spencer King served an equal 45' a piece with King recording a clean sheet facing three shots by the Pirates. Hjerten finished the match with three saves on record.
On offense for the Burgundy and Blue, three of the four shot attempts came from starters with freshman
Nicholas Addamo coming off the bench and taking the only shot for the Knights in the second half, this one coming in the 69'.
For the Pirates, Luca Dahn and CJ Tibbling scored the only two goals of the match, Dahn's coming in the 24' and Tibbling's in the 37'.
"It was a good game for us to play as we head into our conference schedule," said head coach
Seth Roland. "Seton Hall is poised and athletic and challenged us to stay disciplined. I thought we made good progress from the Fordham game and although we have a long way to go, it was a very good step in the right direction," he concluded.
FDU returns to the pitch on Monday, March 1, for a Northeast Conference matchup against Sacred Heart. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
