NEW BRITAIN, CONN. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team (10-6-4, 6-2-2 NEC) made it to the NEC Tournament final, however would ultimately fall to the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils (13-5-0, 8-2-0 NEC) by a score of 3-0.
How it Happened
- The Blue Devils opened their account in the 15' thanks to a penalty kick.
- The CCSU lead would be doubled minutes before halftime.
- CCSU added a third goal in the 64'.
- The Knights had a handful of chances, including a pair of late chances by Aitana Martínez-Montoya that were saved well, but they could not accomplish the comeback.

- The Knights were represented by Naemi Hausen, Lea Egner and Aitana Martínez-Montoya on the NEC All-Tournament Team. Hausen logged a brace and an assist against Sacred Heart in the semifinals, Egner struck with a goal-of-the-season contender against the Pioneers, and Martínez-Montoya added a pair of assists and four shots, three on target, over the weekend.
- Aitana Martínez-Montoya led the Knights with three shots, all three on target, and Malene Nielsen was called into action making eight saves.
- Despite the loss, the Knights ended the season with double-digit wins for the third time under Head Coach Eric Teepe, and finished with at least nine wins for the fifth time with Teepe at the helm.
Coach Teepe's Thoughts
"The last game took a lot out of us. We just couldn't seem to get any bounces go our way. It's a tough way to go down...and we just couldn't find our way. It's disappointing because we're such a good team and we just did not play at our best today, and that's unfortunate."
"I think after the COVID season, to be able to get yourself back up and at the top again, I think that's a huge step forward."
