Scouting the Red Storm
Despite a 2-0 start in non-conference action this season, the St. John's Red Storm heads into Saturday's game against the Knights coming off their first setback of the season, suffered at Indiana on Wednesday, November 18. Trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, St. John's pulled even twice in the second half, but proved unable to take the lead.  The Johnnies trailed by one with just 11 seconds remaining and saw a potential game-winning 3-pointer miss its mark in the closing moments of the contest. Preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection Julian Champagnie put forth an exceptional effort for the Red Storm, scoring 32 points on 12-of-22 shooting, including a 6-for-12 showing from beyond the arc.  The leading scorer in the BIG EAST last season with 19.8 points per game, Champagnie is once again pacing the league in that category at 24.7 points per contest in the early going.

Scouting the Knights
FDU hit the floor on Thursday, November 19, at Northwestern with the Burgundy and Blue falling to the Wildcats 82-46. The Knights were matched up against former student-athlete Elyjah Williams in his hometown of Evanston, Ill. after having graduated from FDU in May of 2021. Williams was held 0-for-4 from the field in the matchup. Offensively, the Knights were led by junior co-captain Devon Dunn and freshman Ibrahim Wattara who each put up 12 points in the contest. Wattara also led the Burgundy and Blue's rebounding game alongside sophomore John Sqaure Jr. who each added five rebounds in the contest. As a team, Greg Herenda's side shot .636 from the free throw stripe. Each of the two squads also recorded eight steals.
