Women's Volleyball Drops Final Match at LIU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Women's volleyball (8-20, 3-11 NEC) fell to NEC opponent LIU (13-13, 10-4 NEC) in FDU's final match of the season.

Inside the Box Score

  • Graduate student Alix Christie led the Knights with 12 points, also contributing five blocks and an ace towards FDU's cause.

  • On a .333 clip, senior Brooke Stevens deposited 7 kills and four blocks for nine points.

  • Exchange student Pauline Giordano posted her fourth double-double of the season with 25 assists and a season-high 19 digs. Giordano also recorded three kills on a .429 average and a pair of blocks for four points.

How it Happened

  • The Sharks came out hot on a 7-1 run in the first set. The Knights established their footing with a pair of kills by Spiridonakos and a pair of service aces by Stingl, knotting the score at 15. The teams began to trade points till a six-point run by LIU gave them the advantage, taking the set 25-19.

  • FDU took an edge early in set two with a series of kills by Christie and Stevens. The Sharks responded with a four-point run, meeting the Knights at 16 and forcing a FDU timeout. Not letting up on offense, LIU posted 15 kills to top the Knights 25-20. 

  • LIU jumped into control on a string of kills early in the third set but could not sustain the momentum. As points started to flow back and forth, the Sharks posted a final block at the net to seal the match 25-22.
