Rush Adds 19, Men's Basketball Falls in Opener at Seton Hall

NEWARK, N.J. - Despite an early lead through the first few minutes of opening action, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 NEC) fell to Seton Hall (1-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) on Wednesday evening at Prudential Center by a 93-49 final.

How it Happened
  • FDU held the early lead through the first 4:45 minutes of the first half.
  • Junior Brandon Rush started off the contest with two straight buckets to give the Knights a 4-0 advantage in the early going. Rush would go on to score a team-high 19 points, shooting an even .500 from the field.
  • Sophomore Sébastien Lamaute was the first off the bench for the Knights and logged just over 22 minutes of work for Greg Herenda's squad.
  • Sophomore Pier-Olivier Racine picked up six total rebounds in the contest, including five off the defensive glass.
Inside the Box Score
  • All Knights who dressed for the contest participated in at least one minute.
  • FDU brought 24 points to the house from inside the paint.
  • The Burgundy and Blue shot 80 percent from the free throw stripe, going 12 for 15.
Coach Herenda's Thoughts

"We came out and hung with a very good team for a while and competed but we just never got many good looks at the basket. Give Seton Hall a ton of credit - they are long, athletic and have a ton of weapons offensively. Our team will grow from this game and continue to improve and find themselves. Brandon Rush showed just how good that he can be and the rest of our guys will follow."
