FDU Earns NEC Building Communities Award

TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University athletic department earned the NEC Building Communities Award presented by Insperity as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The award, which was created in 2010 by the NEC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), recognizes the institution that demonstrates the highest dedication to making an impact in the community.

The Burgundy and Blue totaled 3,275 hours over the course of the academic year. FDU had over 250 student-athletes participate in community service at over 51 locations. Each student-athlete averaged around 13.1 community service hours, which led the Northeast Conference.

"I couldn't be more proud of our student-athletes that fully supported our mission of winning the NEC Building Communities Award," said Director of Athletics Brad Hurlbut. "Last year, we totaled under 200 hours, and to get above the 3,200 hour mark in 2019-20 is amazing. Bringing home this hardware is terrific, but what is even better is knowing that our student-athletes have given back to the Hackensack and Teaneck communities and formed meaningful partnerships."

This is the Knights first Building Communities Award in its 10 year history.
