TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer and head coach
Seth Roland announced the addition of
Hugo Bacharach to the incoming class of 2024 on Friday.
The defender from Benicasim, Spain, will join the defending Northeast Conference champions prior to the start of the upcoming 2020 season. Bacharach is a fixture in the defensive line for the FC Castellon U19 team this past season that has led the Spanish National Youth League standings in 2019-20.
"At 6' 4", Hugo is a big physical presence in the back," said Coach Roland. "He is dominant in the air, reads the game well tactically, and is a good passer. In addition, his years at Villareal have provided him with invaluable soccer experience."
With Bacharach on the backline, FC Castellon U19 has dropped only six of 26 matches through March, and the defensive line has allowed only 26 total goals in those 26 matches. Bacharach has progressed his way as a player through the FC Castellon developmental program as well as playing for 10 years through Villarreal's youth academy, one of the top youth clubs in Spain.
Bacharach is the eighth new addition to the 2020 roster for the Knights and the seventh announced member of the class of 2024. The Knights enter the 2020 season after winning the program's ninth NEC Championship victory, a conference record, and recording the program's 18th NCAA Tournament appearance this past season.
