Baseball Drops Road Contest at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team dropped a road tilt, 13-3 at Seton Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

In the loss, the Knights (4-9) recorded five hits, two of which came off of the bat of freshman outfielder Justin Sierra, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The Pirates (6-8) knocked in six runs in the first inning and held off the Knights over the remainder of the contest.

Bobby Pigozzi (0-1) started for the Knights and took the loss, while Tyler Burnham (1-0) earned the win by tossing three scoreless frames and totaling four strikeouts.

The Knights allowed six runs in the first, four in the second and one in the third to fall into an 11-0 deficit.

All three runs for the Burgundy and Blue came in the sixth inning courtesy of three hits. Redshirt sophomore Rossario Maertz opened the frame with an opposite-field triple and scored on an infield single by Sierra.

With two outs and the bases loaded, freshman shortstop Jake Ellowitz singled to left, which knocked in Brad Levinson and Nate Brodsky with the Knights' final two runs of the contest.

The Knights host Manhattan this weekend for a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 13. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex.

Paul Miller Auto Group is the presenting sponsor of the 2020 FDU baseball season.
