ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Ivan Solans Diaz and sophomore Eduardo Cabral each won their respective singles and doubles matches as the Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team fell to Saint Joseph's, 5-2, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
The duo first teamed up at third doubles to earn a 6-2 win over Dan Tan and Eshan Kanetkar of the Hawks (3-6), tying the doubles matches at 1-1. The Hawks, however, claimed a close 7-5 win at second doubles over FDU sophomore duo Maciej Autuch and Moric Budinszky to take the doubles point.
 
The Hawks also won each of the first four singles matches to claim the overall match victory.
 
Cabral earned his singles win at the sixth spot with a straight-set 6-4, 6-3 win over Sam Sauter, while Solans Diaz claimed a close win by tiebreaker in the first set, 7-6 (4), before his opponent retired with Solans Diaz leading 1-0, providing the FDU junior with the match victory.
 
Budinszky and Autuch each won three games in their respective singles matches, but fell in straight sets. Freshman Mehdi Dhouib and sophomore Andris Gudins, who also played at first doubles, also suffered defeats in the first two singles spots for the Knights.
 
For Cabral, the singles win was his fifth of the spring and his 11th overall this season to lead the team, while Solans Diaz also captured his fifth singles win of the spring and his 10th overall. The duo is also 5-5 in doubles this season.
 
FDU returns to New Jersey and takes an extended 11-day break before their next match at Quinnipiac on Tuesday, March 26, at 3 p.m.
