ORLANDO, Fla. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team swept the Howard Bison, 7-0, to earn their first win of their trip to Florida over Spring Break.
 
The Knights (4-7) won all three doubles matches, dropping only six games combined in the three contests, before also winning all six singles matches. Five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets.
 
Freshman Mehdi Dhouib and sophomore Andris Gudins earned a 6-2 win at first doubles to start the day for the Knights, followed by a 6-3 win for sophomores Maciej Autuch and Moric Budinszky at second doubles and a 6-1 victory for junior Ivan Solans Diaz and sophomore Eduardo Cabral at the third spot.
 
The six players then each won their respective singles matches as well. Budinszky and Solans Diaz each wrapped up their matches with 6-2, 6-0 wins at the fourth and fifth singles spots, respectively. Autuch then closed out his 6-2, 6-2 win at no. 3 singles to provide the Knights the four points they needed to clinch the overall match win.
 
Dhouib at no. 1 singles also won his match by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Cabral fought through a tough first set and then played a strong second set in a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win at the sixth singles spot. Gudins won his first set but suffered a setback in the second stanza before rallying back in the third set for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory to end the day at no. 2 singles.
 
The match sweep for the Knights is their first of the season and the first for the team since 2017 against Saint Peter's.
 
FDU wraps up its Orlando trip with a match Friday against Saint Joseph's at 3 p.m., at the USTA National Campus.
