HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team continues their opening road stretch this weekend as they tackle the Pioneer Showdown at University of Denver.
The Knights (0-6) will play three matches in total beginning with a single match on Friday night against the host Pioneers.

LAST TIME OUT
The Knights competed in three matches at the Providence College Friar Classic last weekend suffering setbacks to Brown (3-1), Providence (3-0) and UMass Lowell (3-2). In the loss to UMass Lowell, A trio of Knights logged double-digit kills but the Knights were edged in five sets (25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 29-27, 14-16).
Erika Sullivan totaled 14 kills to lead the way, while
Magdalena Maksimovic finished with 13 and freshman
Jessica Throckmorton added 12 in the closely-contested defeat.
MCKENNA'S RETURN
Sophomore setter
McKenna Setterlund returned to full-time setting duties last weekend at the Providence Friar Classic and racked up a double-double in the Knights' five-set loss to UMass Lowell on Saturday. Setterlund, who is overcoming a late-season injury from 2017, totaled 43 assists and 14 digs in the final match of the weekend. The Penryn, California native averaged 8.06 assists per set as a freshman last season.
SCOUTING DENVER
The Host Pioneers enter the weekend at 5-1 on the campaign, recently logging wins over UC Santa Barbara (3-2), McNeese State (3-0) and Sacramento State (3-2). Senior Becca Latham leads the team with 77 kills in 27 sets, sophomore Ellie Anderson leads with 161 assists, and senior Emma Willis has 26 total blocks.
SCOUTING IDAHO STATE
The Bengals arrive at the showdown with a 3-5 mark, most recently going 1-2 in their own invitational last weekend. ISU is led by Abby Garrity who has seen action in 33 sets and has 119 kills (.252 hitting percent), and 55 digs on the campaign.
SCOUTING SAINT PETER'S
The Knights conclude the weekend with New Jersey foe Saint Peter's in the first of two scheduled meetings between the squads this season. The Peacocks are 2-8 this season, and currently on a five game losing streak after competing in the FAU Invitational. SPU is led by Alanis Alvarado in kills (116), Wildalys Soto in assists (210), and Karla Seda in digs (135). This season, Saint Peter's has averaged 10.3 kills per set and 1.7 blocks per set.

The Knights have one more road trip before this year's home opener on September 21. Next up is a three-match weekend at the Lafayette Invitational. The Knights open with Hartford on Friday, September 14 before facing Delaware State and the host Leopards on Saturday.
