BIRIMINGHAM, A.L. - The Fairleigh Dickinson men's soccer team wraps up its weekend of action today at 11 a.m. when they face the University of Memphis at BBVA Compass Field.
FDU is coming off of a 2-1 OT win over UAB on Friday evening, and currently holds a 2-0-1 overall record.
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights won another overtime thriller on a crazy Friday night at BBVA Compass Field. After a nearly two and a half hour lightning delay pushed the start of the second half back to nearly 11:30, Ahu Obhakhan put FDU up 1-0 with his fourth tally of the year before UAB leveled in the 66' to send things into overtime.
Daniel Lasarte slid home the winner in the 12' of the extra frame to win it for FDU and earn head coach Seth Roland his 200th career victory at FDU.
ALL TIME SERIES
The Knights and Tigers have held only one prior meeting in their history, a 2012 clash that saw Memphis top FDU by a final score of 1-0 at the Soccer for a Cure Classic. The Knights will have the chance to earn their first win in program history against an opponent for the second straight contest Sunday, as Friday's victory over UAB was just the second time the two squads had met and first time FDU came away with a win.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers currently sit a 1-1-1 overall so far in 2018, having dropped their most recent contest from Friday evening against Coastal Carolina by a final of 2-0. Memphis was picked to finish eighth overall in the 2018 AAC preseason poll, however the Tigers do boast two Preseason All-AAC members in junior defender Ben Roberts and midfielder David Zalzman.
CONFERENCE LEADERS
Ahu Obhakhan's opening goal on Friday evening was the fourth of the campaign as well as the fourth straight Knights goal scored by Obhakhan in 2018. The senior and Ireland native currently leads the NEC in total goals scored and sits third in shots per game at 4.0.
