HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Sacred Heart for an NEC double header beginning at 12:00 p.m. The games will be available via live stream on NEC Front Row.
FDU currently owns a 12-19 overall record, including a 4-2 mark in NEC Conference play.
THE OPPONENT
The Knights currently own a 14-20 record in the all-time series against the Pioneers, with their last win coming back in April of 2016. SHU won the most recent matchup against the Knights in May of 2017, a 3-0 victory. At 24-15 on the season (6-2 NEC), Sacred Heart currently sits second in the NEC standings, trailing only Saint Francis U for the top spot in the conference. The Pioneers combined 2.42 team ERA is the lowest in the NEC this season.
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights are coming off of a two-game sweep over Mount St. Mary's in Hackensack last weekend that saw them knock off the Mountaineers by scores of 5-0 and 5-3. Pitcher
Baylee Ports shut things down in the circle for FDU in game one, giving up just three hits and striking out seven to earn the win for FDU. Ports followed up the quality start in game one with another strong performance in relief in game two, picking up her first save of the season as the Knights held on to close things out over the final two frames and win 5-3.
FUTURE SERIES
FDU will head to Chestnut Hill, Massachusets Wednesday for an afternoon doubleheader against Boston College beginning at 3 p.m. It will be the first ever meeting between the Knights and the Eagles.
