Men's Tennis Finishes Regular Season at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team (4-14, 2-3) finished its regular season schedule on Sunday night, dropping a non-conference bout to the Owls of Temple 7-0.  

In No. 1 singles, Niclas Pietsch delivered a quality match, giving Thomas Sevel his all, though Sevel would prevail in straight sets 7-6, 6-4.  

In No. 2 singles, Andris Gudins was matched up with Alberto Casas of Temple. Casas took the first set 6-3, then in the second set, Gudins matched Casas point for point, though suffered a tough defeat 6-3, 7-6.  

In doubles, both FDU pairs of Niclas Pietsch and Andris Gudins, as well as Adam Chan and Moric Budinszky lost 6-4 in doubles.  

Throughout the season, the Knights have been led by a balance attack. Niclas Pietsch paced the team with 15 singles wins, followed by Maciej Autuch who delivered 12 wins in singles. William Bourne is third with 11 wins in limited action, and Andris Gudins rounded out the Knights with 10 wins.  

In doubles, the pair of Adam Chan and Andris Gudins lead the team with a 6-4 record in doubles.  

Up next, the Knights will compete in the Northeast Conference Championships, on Friday, April 20, at Mercer County Park.
