After both advanced on separate wild pitches, Meehan scored off of a fielders choice from a Madison Emerson to put the Knights up 1-0. Two at-bats later, Summer Mercier smacked a single to center field to score Mendoza and widen FDU's lead to 2-0.
The score held for another five innings, as both teams had their chances however neither managed to capitalize. The Knights had runners on second and third with two outs in the top of the second, however Reanna Cervantes struck out swinging to end the frame.
Likewise, Tiger right-fielder Kaitlyn Waslawski reached on a fielders choice in the bottom of the third, but she was caught stealing after a perfect throw from Cervantes to shortstop Logan Kolehmainen at second base.
FDU would finally break through and add to their lead in the top of the seventh after a hard hit double from Jaymee Jackson scored Kolehmainen and Riley Schmeh to make it 4-2. Jackson would later score on a Mendoza pop fly to give FDU their fifth run.
The Tigers recouped one in the bottom of the 7th, however FDU pitcher Erica Johnson managed to close things out for the Knights and earn her first win of the season.
The Knights finished with five runs off of five hits and ten walks. Jackson led the Knights offensively, going 2-4 at the plate with two RBI's.
