Softball Hosts Bryant, Central Connecticut in Hackensack

HACKENSACK, NJ - The Fairleigh Dickinson softball team opens up its NEC schedule this weekend when it hosts Bryant and Central Connecticut in a pair of double-headers on Friday and Saturday. The Knights will kick things off with a twinbill against the Bulldogs on Friday beginning at 1 p.m. before squaring off against the Blue Devils Saturday afternoon.

Friday's matchup against Bryant will be available on live stream via NEC Front Row.

THE OPPONENTS

The Knights open up their 2018 conference schedule against two teams that they went a combined 0-4 against last season. FDU is 5-13 all-time against the Bulldogs, with their last win coming back in 2015. The Knights are 11-21 in the all-time series against Central Connecticut, having dropped their most recent matchup last season by a final of 8-0. FDU's last win over the Blue Devils was a 5-3 victory in April of 2016.

LAST TIME OUT

The Knights got back into the win column on Tuesday, earning a two-game sweep over Saint Peter's in Hackensack after dropping nine of their previous ten matchups. FDU exploded for 13 hits in game one, putting up seven runs for their highest offensive output since a 9-4 win over Morgan State back on March 4th. Pitcher Baylee Ports struck out ten to earn the victory in the circle for the Knights.

After taking games one 7-1, the Knights came right back with a 4-2 victory to close out Tuesday afternoon with a pair of W's. After holding on to a 4-2 lead late fourth inning, FDU pitcher Abby England retired nine consecutive batter to shutdown the Peacocks and secure the victory for FDU.

FUTURE SCHEDULE

After the weekend homestead the Knights return to action on Tuesday, April 3rd when they head to Riverdale, N.Y. for a double-header against the Manhattan Jaspers beginning at 2 p.m. NEC play will pick back up over the weekend as the Knights make their Western PA road trip to face Robert Morris and Saint Francis U on Saturday and Sunday.
