Knights Host LIU Brooklyn On Senior Day

HACKENSACK, N.J. -  The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball team closes out the remainder of it's regular season home schedule this weekend with a pair of clashes against LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn.  The Knights will host the Blackbirds on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day before closing things out against the Terriers Monday evening at 7 p.m.

Both games will be available via live stream on NEC Front Row.

QUICK HITTERS

The Knights are coming off of their Western P.A. road trip that saw them drop both games against Robert morris and Saint Francis U, the first time all season that FDU has dropped back to back games on the road.  The Knights enter Saturday with a 15-11 overall record, including a 7-8 mark in NEC Conference Play, and currently sit fifth overall in the NEC Conference standings.

The Knights are 9-5 playing in Stratis Arena this season, including wins in three of their last four home clashes.

SERIES SCORE

FDU is 41-31 all-time against LIU Brooklyn, including a 20-12 record at home.  The Knights defeated the Blackbirds in their only previous meeting this season, coming away with a 61-49 win in Brooklyn back on January 29.  LIU's most recent win over the Knights was a 65-62 victory back in 2016, and their most recent win over FDU in Hackensack was a 79-75 win in 2015.

The Knights are also 1-0 against the Terriers in 2018 after taking down St. Francis Brooklyn in Brooklyn 70-62 on January 26th.  FDU owns an impressive 48-21 mark in the all-time series against the Terriers, with St. Francis' most recent victory coming last year when they took down FDU in Hackensack, 66-59.

LAST TIME OUT

The Knights fell to Saint Francis U in Loretto 80-61 Monday evening.  Despite a valiant defensive effort that saw the Knights grab 31 defensive boards against the Red Flash, SFU drained 12 three-pointers on the evening to pull away with the win.  Saint Francis also managed to force the Knights into 24 turnovers, scoring 31 points off those mistakes.

Lauren Francillon posted a double-double in the game, finishing with team highs in both points (14) as well as rebounds (10).  The Knights shot just 4-20 (.250) from beyond the arc against the Red Flash, their most attempts against any NEC opponent this season and the highest mark overall since throwing up 30 against Howard back in November.

SCOUTING THE BLACKBIRDS

LIU Brooklyn enters Saturday's game at 9th overall in the NEC Standings with an overall record of 9-16, including. 5-9 mark in NEC play.  The Blackbirds boast one of the most stout defenses in the entire NEC, currently sitting third overall in scoring defense at just 64.8 points per game as well as steals per game at 9.5.  Offensively, things have been a little tougher this year for the Blackbirds, as LIU sits 9th in total offense at 55.5 points per game, and is tied with Central Connecticut for dead last in the NEC in field goal percentage at .345.  Guard Denisha Petty-Evans is averaging 15.2 points per game this season, fourth best overall in the NEC.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

St. Francis Brooklyn is currently one spot ahead of FDU in the current conference standings, the owners of a 11-14 overall record (7-7 NEC).  The Terriers are even with FDU in scoring offense, with both schools averaging 62.8 points per game on the season.  The Terriers trail only FDU in overall field goal percentage (.408), and are the most efficient team in the NEC from beyond the three-point line at a blazing .369.

SUPER SENIORS

Before tip off Saturday afternoon, FDU will honor the careers of seniors Amina Markovic, Busra Saral, and Rainey Cox with a pre-game ceremony at mid-court.
