Knights Drop Season Finale at Saint Francis U

LORETTO, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team's 2018 season concluded on Saturday night with a straight-set loss 25-6, 25-17, 25-18 at Saint Francis U.
 
Freshman outside Jessica Throckmorton topped the Knights scoresheet with eight kills, while her classmate, setter Corina Beimers finished with a team-high 15 digs and nine assists in the loss.
 
Madi Tyus paced the Red Flash (5-22, 4-10 NEC) with a 10-kill, 18-dig double-double. Nicole Adams totaled 12 kills and Amelia Metzler finished with 36 assists and 20 digs in the win.
 
Tyus served eight straight points for the Red Flash, who rolled to 25-6 opening-set win. The Knights were held to a -.062 attack percentage in the set and -.023 rate in the match.
 
The efficient Red Flash posted a .379 attack percentage in that opening set, committing just one error with 12 kills.
 
In the second, the Knights  (2-28, 0-14 NEC) erased an early 6-2 deficit by scoring four straight points. Sophomore Nataliya Rybakova delivered a kill and an ace over that span to help tie the frame at six.
 
Later in the set, a Throckmorton ace would bring the Knights back within one, 14-13, before the Red Flash pulled away. The home team recorded six of the next seven points to grab control of the set and take a 2-0 lead.
 
The deciding frame saw the Knights hang within one, 11-10, before the Red Flash rattled off four straight to garner some breathing room. The momentum continued for the home side as they followed a Beimers kill with five points in a row to help close out the victory.
