Volleyball Hosts Robert Morris and Saint Francis U this Weekend

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team is set to welcome Robert Morris and Saint Francis U to the Rothman Center this weekend for a pair of Northeast Conference matches.

The Knights will square off with Robert Morris (7-13, 1-4 NEC) on Friday and Saint Francis U (3-15, 2-3 NEC) on Saturday with first serve set for 5:00 p.m. on both days.
 
On Saturday, the team will welcome back a group of former Knights with their annual alumni day festivities.

LAST TIME OUT
On the road for the second straight day, the Knights (2-17, 0-5 NEC) dropped a 3-0 match (25-21, 25-13, 27-25) to the Bryant Bulldogs last Saturday evening. In the contest, the Knights blocked nine attacks, totaled 29 kills, and matched Bryant with 51 digs. Junior outside hitter Erika Sullivan paced the Burgundy and Blue with 10 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore outside Magdalena Maksimovic tallied seven kills and five digs. Freshman Jessica Throckmorton finished the match with 12 digs for the Knights.  
 
KNIGHTS OF LATE
The Burgundy and Blue enter the weekend seeking their first NEC victory of the season. Last week, the Knights suffered a pair of conference sweeps at Central Connecticut and Bryant after a hard-fought five-set loss at home to Saint Peter's on Wednesday. The team continues to be led by Sullivan's 2.47 kills per set. Sullivan has logged seven double-doubles this season.  
 
BLOCKING BROOKE
Freshman middle Brooke Stevens ranks fourth in the NEC with 0.96 blocks per set. The first-year Knight has burst onto the scene with her blocking prowess, totaling five or more blocks on seven different occasions this season. As a team, the Knights rank third in the conference with 2.01 blocks per set.
 
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials enter the weekend at 7-13 overall including a 1-4 mark in NEC play. The team is coming off of a straight set defeat to Duquesne last time out. A balanced effort on offense saw Emily Devlin and Mirna Sarjanovic deliver seven kills apiece, and Maria Alfano added six kills and six total blocks, including three solo in the loss. Sophomore Emma Granger paces the Colonial offense this season, averaging 2.54 kills per set to go along with 28 service aces. Granger's ace total ranks second in the NEC. The Colonials are 31-7 all-time against the Knights
 
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS U
After going 2-1 on their three-match homestand, the Red Flash sit at 2-3 in the NEC, one game in back of Sacred Heart for the fourth and final playoff spot. The Red Flash enter the weekend with a 3-15 overall record. The Red Flash defense has posted the second-best dig mark in the conference, averaging 15.74 digs per set. Freshman libero Jess Barrett's 4.33 digs per set leads the defensive charge for SFU. Offensively, Madi Tyus leads the way and ranks fourth in the NEC with 3.32 kills per set. The Red Flash own a 29-26 edge in the all-time series with the Knights.

The Knights are on the road for their next four matches beginning with a pair of NEC road tests next Friday, October 19 at LIU Brooklyn and Saturday, October 20 at St. Francis Brooklyn.
