Softball Visits Wagner and Mount St. Mary's This Weekend

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Doubleheaders at Wagner on Saturday and at Mount St. Mary's on Sunday await the Fairleigh Dickinson softball team this weekend. The Knights are coming off a doubleheader split at UMass on Wednesday.

The Knights will battle the Seahawks on Saturday at 1 & 3 p.m. over on Staten Island. The action starts at 2 p.m. on Sunday down in Emmitsburg, Maryland against the Mountaineers.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Fairleigh Dickinson won game one on Wednesday 4-3 at UMass and dropped game two 5-1. The Knights sit at 2-17, 0-2 NEC on the season. Reanna Cervantes leads the offense in batting average .382. Kellie Natham and Madison Emerson are second and third at .292 and .291 respectively. Natham leads the squad in RBIs (12) and Cervantes leads in runs scored (9).  The pitching staff is paced by Emerson with a 5.41 ERA over 32.1 innings. Erica Johnson has the two wins for the Knights this season.

SERIES SCORES
The Knights are 10-22 all-time against the Seahawks of Wagner. The Knights had won six straight in the series before dropping game two of the doubleheader last season at FDU Softball Field 9-0. Against Mount St. Mary's, the Knights are 13-17, but have won five straight meetings; including in sweeps in 2015 and 2016.

SCOUTING WAGNER
The Seahawks enter at 8-17 overall and 1-1 in NEC play. Wagner is coming off a doubleheader split at Monmouth, lost game one 4-3 and won game two 5-3. Karen Prihoda paces the offense with a .437/.479/.644 slash line. Prihoda also leads the team in runs scored (19) and RBI (15). Morgan Brown has logged the most innings for Wagner at 63.1 and is 5-4 on the season.

SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S
The Mountaineers sit at 10-20 and 1-1 in NEC play. The Mount was scheduled to play Robert Morris on Saturday but that doubleheader has already been postponed. Mount St. Mary's has split its last two doubleheaders; against LIU Brooklyn and Morgan State. Lindsey and Rachel Heinze lead the offense for the Mountaineers. Lindsey is hitting .351 and Rachel is at .389. Rachel has also scored 32 times and knocked in 25 more. Sam Lichtner has logged 82 innings in the circle and is 7-5 with a 3.41 ERA.

CONNECT FOUR
Sophomore Serena Meehan is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak. The streak has raised her average 44 points.

LEAD OFF POWER
Reanna Cervantes led off the second game versus Saint Francis and game one against UMass with a solo home run. Those were the first two homers of the season for the sophomore and gives her eight for her career.

TWO FOR YOU
Erica Johnson picked up her second win of the season at UMass on Wednesday. The freshman twirled five innings and allowed one run and scattered five hits and two walks.
